Bendit, girl

The other day I threatened to post my collection of parasitic twin images. But this is much better. Some profess a taste for lawsonesque curves… Nigella (gingerbread pusher). . .
For those whose taste run to glamourous stick insects, this is for you: here are some of the most fabulous insects in the world, in this gallery collected at darkroastedblend.com

I don’t like the moths.

There is some cool stuff at that site.
I particularly like the Office supplies that promise expulsion from school, tasing, or worse. (Like Tularemia.)

Miso Soup Recipe

Ingredients

  • Miso paste
  • Carrots, onions, leek, potatoes, konnyaku (a rubbery root), seaweed, pork, etc.
  • Water

Directions

Put about three or four cups of water in a pan and boil. Add the vegetables and boil until soft. Important: Reduce to low heat so that the water has stopped boiling before adding the miso or else you will lose the nutrition of the soybean (miso) paste. I generally add about two tablespoons, but it’s up to you. I put the miso in a strainer and place it in the hot water, letting the water mix with the paste (if you add the miso paste without a strainer, it tends to create lumps and small debris floating in the broth). Stir.

Blogger Users Please No Comment Popup

blogger-comment-firefoxI love spending time visiting different blogs and leaving comments when I get the calling. But sometimes this is such a frustrating exercise. I’ve noticed it only happens on Blogger blogs who use the comment in a popup feature. And it only happens when I use Firefox which is the browser
of choice. I really shouldn’t have to switch browsers to leave a comment. Most people just won’t bother. If you have a Blogger Blog and use comments in a popup, this is what people see when they try to comment.

Just so you know, that this is a real shot of the popup window. I didn’t capture the top part of the screen because I didn’t want to embarrass anyone. What makes it so bad, the window is not resizesable. So I can’t make it larger so I can see what I’m doing.

It is also super difficult to read comments in a tiny window. Especially when you have a lot of comments.

So please, if you use Blogger and you’re wondering why comments are a little slow, maybe it’s because people are frustrated with it.

What can you do to fix it? Easy. Log into your Blogger account, under Settings >> Comments

blogger-comment-settings

Scroll down the page about half way down it, look for this

Select no then save your settings.

Well, Josh Beckett has struck out the first 3 batters and Dustin Pedroia hit a home run on the first pitch!  Sounds like a great start to the World Series to me.  Don’t worry, I won’t be giving an inning by inning report but wanted to give you a couple tips to make your World Series experience more enjoyable.

If you need Red Sox gear (I just had some 2nd day UPSed to me)  make sure you get it from the

Also, if you need to bone-up on the words to Tessie, the Sox “fight song,” you can get the lyrics (and the story) here.  And watch the Dropkick Murphy’s video.

Late to the Party

Posted in Humor, MySpace, Revelation, Facebook, Bible, Tattoos on November 6th, 2007

Many religions have tried to explain the 144,000 mentioned in the book of Revelation.  Some have taken this number literally and contend that this is the exact number of people who will get to Heaven.  Others see this number as more of a symbolic number.  I look to other references in Revelation, namely the Mark of the Beast, and submit my theory for your approval:  the 144,000 represents the actual number of people left in the world who don’t have the Mark of the Beast, which we all know is representative of tattoos.

Personally, I still belong to the 144,000 but I’m thinking of getting ink done.  Look, when you’ve got 80-year old grandmas with tats , it makes me think I might be a little pansy.  In an effort to seem a little more hip, I decided that instead of getting inked, I’d just join Facebook instead.  For some reason, it seems a little less “13-year old girl” than MySpace but it could just be that I’ve only been on Facebook for a day.  One thing it has going for it is that it looks better on my Blackberry than MySpace does which means I can write on my friends’ wall while I’m supposed to be paying attention to the speaker at the $1,000 conference my employer sent me to.  And I like the fact that I don’t have to explain to people why, despite the fact that I haven’t seen them in 15 years, they aren’t in my “top friends” list.

Which brings up this point:  is your self esteem boosted when that chick you knew from high school “confirms you are friends” or is that just me?
