Republican Ron Paul Anti Big Government Video

A very interesting film clip we came across from the Ron Paul in 2008 Campaign which was creatively edited by one of his “Paulistine” followers. Ron Paul is NOT your run of the mill Republican by any stretch of the imagination… What a hoot!!

This free chess games analysis article follows a chess game that could end up in a somewhat complicated position following the “McCutcheon†variation of the French Defense. However, if you follow Lasker’s strategies of developing his pieces, you can be very successful, especially if playing online on one of those “free chess games†websites.

Grades K-8 Olympics/International Competition Lesson

Older kids would be more responsible for the research and could do much more of a study. While at the K level we’ll just read a book or two or find out some fun facts, at a higher level they could study imports and exports, history, traditions, society, culture and so on.

Watch the opening ceremonies and pick 2-4 countries for further study which will include:

  • finding it on the globe
  • reading a book about the country
  • finding a website about the country
  • a worksheet/coloring page related to the country
  • looking at the country’s flag
  • looking the country up in the kid’s almanac

Variation:
Cooking some traditional dishes from that country would be fun too.

stuart dredge facebook blogging

Stuart Dredge made a post on Tech Digest : Opinion: Facebook is killing personal blogging.

In many ways, I agree that Facebook is changing the web. In other ways, I don’t agree with some of what he said, although it’s not wrong, it’s just a difference in opinion.

He mentions twitter and he’s of the opinion that Twitter is being overrun by facebook. But honestly, I don’t think Facebook has much to do with that. I’m leaning towards Pownce as a micro-blogging tool, and I think most people who use pownce will tell you that after using it, they just don’t care as much about twitter.

But there’s no denying that Facebook is gaining popularity. I can say that as a social network, it has managed to get some people signed up that I would have never thought in a million years would sign up for a social networking site. And I admit it does have a lot of time wasters.

But I don’t really think it will get rid of personal blogging altogether. Personally as a blogger who’s been blogging since the beginning (1997), I’d like to think that it will just go back to what it was like, when not everyone had a blog. I think people will use facebook and such, but they’ll also blog just as much. The community will just get smaller I think. The way it used to be.

If you’re wondering, yes I have a facebook profile. Do I use it often? Honestly, no, because, I have too many blogs to keep up with. I mean, I love the occasional food fight on facebook, but honestly, it’s such a time killer, I might as well play World of Warcraft. (hmm that’s something. comparing World of Warcraft to Facebook)

linklist blog entry compatibility

Filed under: Everything — everything @ 10:27 pm

With the dev blog entry about Questions Concerning ExpressionEngine 2.0 Compatibility, some of you might be wondering if I will be converting the linklist or any other plugins I’ve created to fit with EE 2.0.

Well, I will if I have to. I only say this because will EE 2.0 have linklist/blogroll capabilities? I think so. And before you start wondering, no I haven’t gotten any word of that from anyone. I’m just predicting. But if not, then if I get a copy of the dev version of EE 2.0 to bring it up to specs, then I’ll do it. We’ll see how long till they have something for us developers though. I never anticipate any date unless it comes from the horses mouth, and well, they’re saying who knows when it’ll be ready to go out there.

So there you go, I thought I’d throw that out there before people who are using linklist now wonder if there was going to be a linklist 2.0.

Where Is Ansel Adams When We Need Him?

Saturday, November 5th, 2005 by RLR

From The Boston Globe
By Derrick Z. Jackson

derrickzjacksonANSEL ADAMS came to the White House in 1975 to deliver a print of a photograph from Yosemite National Park desired by President Ford and Betty Ford. Adams, still smarting from President Nixon’s neglect of public lands, asked Ford to redefine the meaning of our parks, maintain their funding, and put a ”new emphasis on preservation and environmental responsibilities.”

In 1983, Adams met with President Reagan, and not to deliver a photograph. He was a vocal critic of Reagan’s rollbacks on environmental protection and preservation of wild areas. He said Reagan’s land policies were ones of ”rape, ruin, and run!” According to Adams, had the nation been under the vision in the 1930s of Reagan’s infamous Interior Secretary James Watt, Kings Canyon National Park would today ”look like part of the outskirts of Las Vegas.”

After Adams told Playboy magazine in 1983, ”I hate Reagan,” an embarrassed White House had the beloved photographer sit with Reagan for nearly an hour. Adams left unimpressed, borrowing from Oscar Wilde to say, ”They know the price of everything and the value of nothing.”

One can only guess what sparks would fly if Adams, who died in 1984, could witness President Bush’s resurrection of Reagan’s rape, ruin, and run.
